The FrightProps Transducers are a great way to vibrate floors, walls, benches, and other items. The vibration is controlled by sending audio to the transducer.
How do they work?
Transducers create vibrating and shaking effects. A speaker contains an electro magnet that moves a cone which displaces air. A transducer is similar but instead of a cone it contains a steel piston that moves and creates vibration. Just like a speaker, a transducer requires an audio source. The lower the frequency the better as this will move the piston the most.
What do you need?
You need an audio source (such as a BooTunes, MP3 Player, or CD Player), Transducer Amplifier, one or more Transducers, Speaker Cables, Cable to go from audio source to Amplifier, and low-frequency audio files (such as provided by the FrightProps Low Freak FX CD). The FrightProps Transducer Amplifier can run one or two Transducers. Two Transducers creates twice as much vibration and is good for larger areas.
How do they get installed?
The FrightProps Transducers can be bolted on top of or underneath flooring, benches, walls, etc. Whatever they are attached to should have some form of rubber isolation, such as rubber feet, rubber air bags, rubber tires, etc. This will allow the vibration to be felt to its maximum potential. If there is no rubber isolation then the vibration will be absorbed into the underlying floor and not felt like it should be.
A typical Transducer sub-floor installation. Transducer is mounted on top of the floor and rubber feet are used for isolation.
A typical two Transducer sub-floor installation. Transducers are mounted on top of the floor and rubber feet are used for isolation.
A typical two Transducer sub-floor installation. Transducers are mounted upside down under the floor and rubber feet are used for isolation. This type of installation requires about 6 inches of clearance under the floor to accomidate the Transducers.
Transducer is mounted upside down under a park bench.
