Overview

Sometimes universal mount cylinders come with a rear pivot pin installed.  You can use as is with our Read Pivot brackets but sometimes it is desirable to remove them to use your own pin or a different mounting scenario.  Removing this pin can be difficult; this document shows an easy way to remove the pin.

You will need a bench vise.

Hold one end of the pin to one side of the vise jaws.

Place a nut that loosely fits over the pin on the other side.

When you close the vise the pin will release and move into the nut.

You may need to use pliers to fully remove the pin.
